Show would be better with more laps, says Fujitsu Racing man.

Fujitsu Racing's Jason Bright has called for more race laps at the non-championship Australian Grand Prix V8 support event.

Bright, who finished 23rd in race 1, 16th in race 2 and 14th in the final race of the weekend, was pleased with the balance in the Fujitsu Racing Falcon, but believes he could have benefited from longer races which would have been more representative of a regular V8 Supercar round.

"This is a great track for V8 Supercars," he noted. "However, we don't get the full opportunity to showcase not only our car, but also the category here at the Grand Prix.

"If they gave us 25 lap races, instead of 15 or 19 laps, I'm sure the whole show would be a lot better.

"In two of the races we didn't complete the full distance after safety cars were called onto the track.

"Short races cause impatience with a lot of drivers. They push too hard and cause chaos. I fully appreciated this is a Formula One event, but a lot of people want to see our cars at their best as well.

"In terms of our performance this weekend, we are satisfied. We tried a few things and that has us heading in the right direction as we prepare for the next round in New Zealand next month."

Fujitsu Racing chief engineer Geoff Slater meanwhile was pleased to see Bright get through the weekend's schedule.

"This wraps up a very busy month with three events in four weeks," he added.

"We showed some improvements this weekend, but in the biff and barge that was not always that evident. Our engine programme is stepping up a notch for the next round in Hamilton. That is just the first step in a range of improvements we have coming."
