Will Davison has said that his trio of second place finishes at the V8 Supercar Manufacturers Challenge at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne this weekend will give the whole team a boost ahead of the event in Hamilton next month.
Indeed after Davison claimed his maiden round V8 Supercar victory at Eastern Creek last week, it is a further boost for him and the Jim Beam Racing squad, which proved to be the best Ford combination at the non-championship event, which pitted the 'Blue Oval' against Holden.
"It feels unbelievable to be on the podium again," he reflected. "It's a fantastic result and I'm just thrilled for the team, even though there were no points involved this weekend it gives us great confidence going to New Zealand.
"We made some set up changes for that last race and the car was quite quick so I was pleased with that given our brakes and tyres weren't great in that final race."
Steve Johnson meanwhile worked his way up through the field during the final race in the sister car. Having started from 15th on the grid, he eventually took ninth in race 3 and seventh overall for the round.
"That was a good result in the final race, and to have both cars in the top ten gives us an indication we're are on the right path this year," he added.
"We were the only Ford team with both cars in the top ten, so we definitely did our bit as far as the Manufacturers Challenge goes."
