Rick Kelly and Paul Dumbrell will refocus after a weekend of poor results in Darwin a fortnight ago as the HSV Dealer Team heads to Queensland Raceway for the seventh round of the V8 Supercar Championship.

Kelly's team-mate last year, Garth Tander, swept the board in 2007 taking three race wins and the round victory and Kelly will hope to overcome some of the problems he encountered last time out to see if he can replicate that kind of form this time around.

Indeed, Kelly said he confident he can regain his focus for this weekend's three race format and overcome some of the problems he had in Darwin.

“The new tyre in Darwin threw us off a bit given the setup it required for us to be able to put in a good lap time,” he said. “What we found at the end of the weekend in Darwin should assist is in getting a better result in Queensland.

“The setup we ended up with is quite similar to what we have had a lot of success with at the Queensland circuit.”

The Queensland circuit is test track for the Queensland Ford teams but Kelly is confident this will be no impediment to strong results for the weekend.

“Being the Ford test track they usually get stuck in a bit of a rut, as we do sometimes at Winton,” he said. “Going to Queensland with a clear mind certainly helps us get the right setup out of the car fairly quickly and given our results last year we should be able to definitely put in some better results than we did at Darwin.”

Autobarn driver Dumbrell had a consistent round in Darwin, climbing his way through the field in the second race, from seventeenth to eleventh. He is also positive about achieving more solid and consistent results this weekend.

“We have scaled the countryside lately for the warmer weather and hopefully we can have another race without the threat of rain,” he said. “Going to Queensland is going to be exciting; the HSV Dealer Teams cars have been very quick there the last few years. All four Clayton's Commodores were in the top five all weekend last year.
