TeamVodafone takes third straight win at Mount Panorama.

TeamVodafone duo Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup triumphed for the third straight year in the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, becoming the first pairing to take a pure hat-trick at Mount Panorama for 25 years.

The #888 car led for much of a typically action-packed race, but any hope Lowndes and Whincup had of pulling out a comfortable advantage over their rivals was constantly thwarted by a steam of late-race safety car periods as the six hour-plus duration and a spate of tyre wear issues took their toll on the field.

Greg Murphy and Jason Richards claimed second for Tasman/Sprint Gas Racing, despite the Kiwi facing overheating issues in the closing stages, while James Courtney and David Besnard took an unexpected podium after capitalising on the grip problems Steven Richards was suffering in the FPR car he shared with Mark Winterbottom.
