Marcus Marshall finished the Falken Tyres Tasmania Challenge, the penultimate round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series, in 21st position.

Marshall finished race #1 in 18th, 21st in race #2 and 24th in the final race, where an incident cost him dearly.

The IRWIN driver was battling for 23rd position when he was turned around by Shane van Gisbergen. By the time Marshall returned to the track, the leaders were upon him and he had to move aside, effectively putting him out of any hope of moving up the order.

The highlight of the weekend was race #1. Marshall put in a strong drive in the wet conditions. An early stop for wet tyres provided the opportunity for him to race through the pack.

“The opening race we worked extremely well as a team,” said Marshall. “It was very tricky conditions and the car was very strong.

“Race #2 we didn't quite have the pace and in the final race the car was good, but once had to move aside the leaders after the incident we just couldn't recover.

“Now we head to the final round at Oran Park and we are determined to finish the year on a high.”

IRWIN Racing engineer Marcus Clarke summed-up a challenging weekend: “We completed all three races, but just didn't get the overall result we had aimed for,” said Clarke. “Race #1 was by the most challenging and we really put in a strong effort.

“The other races didn't fall our way and it we couldn't jump up the order. A lot of teams had dramas this weekend, but we have a straight car to prepare for Oran Park. That is a bonus for our tireless crew who have worked non-stop since Bathurst in early October.”
