Preview: Rally Catalunya.

Preview for the Rally Catalunya Costa Daurada - the twelfth round in the 2007 FIA World Rally Championship.

Loeb took the lead towards the end of the opening leg, after early pace setter Marcus Gronholm lost time with a turbo problem, something that dropped him down the pack. After that the Frenchman was never really troubled and his only minor scare came on SS10 on Saturday, when he hit a rock and damaged the steering on his Xsara.

Gronholm eventually finished third, over 1.5 minutes off Seb, while Daniel Sordo was extremely impressive and took the runners-up spot on only his fourth outing in a World Rally Car.

Alex Bengue and Jan Kopecky rounded out the top five, followed by Francois Duval and Petter Solberg. Stephane Sarrazin took the final drivers’ point in eighth.

A number of drivers’ had problems during the event, most noticeably Stobart Ford’s Jari-Matti Latvala and Matthew Wilson and then Kronos Citroen #2 driver, Xavier Pons. Latvala and Wilson however could both re-start and finish under the SupeRally.
