Henning after podium.
Henning Solberg has high hopes for the Swedish Rally and he will be taking in what is essentially his home event for the tenth time.
Furthermore with five consecutive Norwegian Rally Championship titles to his name he should definitely be one to watch. Indeed last year he claimed his best ever result on the Karlstad-based event and now he wants to try and do even better and notch up his fourth podium finish in the WRC, to add to those achieved in Norway, Japan and Turkey.
"This is the one I have been waiting for and hopefully we can do even better here this year after finishing fourth in 2007," he stated.
"I am still very inexperienced on tarmac so Monte-Carlo was really an event where I wanted to get experience and finish all the stages but Sweden will be different, it will be maximum attack."
Despite his confidence though, Henning is all to aware that he will need to think about the team as well, as he will be nominated to score manufacturers’ points this time out.
"The Stobart team is in a great position already [after
Francois Duval and Gigi Galli finished fourth and sixth in Monte Carlo] so I must remember points for the team is very important," he continued.
"But snow is also where I am most comfortable in a rally car too so we will try our very best to push for a podium spot."
M-Sport boss Malcolm Wilson meanwhile is also confident Henning can do very well. He also believes Gigi Galli could be up there too, while he wants his son Matthew to aim for the top-ten in the third Stobart Ford entry.
