Rally reactions: Jordan Rally - Day 3.

Sunday, 27th April 2008

"I really needed these 10 points and this is a great result for my championship challenge..." - Mikko Hirvonen.

Jari-Matti Latvala [BP Ford Abu Dhabi WRT]:

"In the morning's first stage I hit a rock, but felt nothing. Halfway through the next test the support link in the rear left suspension snapped. After the stage we tried to strap the suspension together but it wouldn't hold and I had to drive many kilometres with the tyre bent in. I was lucky to get back. I had two perfect days on Friday and Saturday but today was a long one. I need to be more consistent and concentrate without making mistakes. I'm disappointed not to score more points."

Gigi Galli [Stobart VK M-Sport Ford WRT]:

"We are definitely pleased with this result but we were disappointed with the problem on Friday. On Saturday I really had to concentrate again and we found a good feeling and a good rhythm with the car and managed to set three fastest times so for sure I must be happy with this progress. Today was quite tough and the long stage made it a difficult way to finish the rally but now I have much more confidence going into my home rally in Sardinia."

Khalid Al-Qassimi [BP Ford Abu Dhabi WRT]:

"I’m happy but also a little disappointed because I suffered two flat tyres on the last stage when I was fighting for a drivers’ point. I had to stop and fix both tyres, which cost me lots of time. I’ve never been in a points scoring position before and unfortunately luck wasn’t on my side."

Sebastien Loeb [Citroen Total WRT]:

"It was especially useful to see how our Pirelli Scorpion tyres stood up to the long stage. There was also a chance we score points for Citroën. We are now five points behind in the Drivers' standings but they won't be impossible to make up. There is still a long way to go this season and the way our C4 performed here was very encouraging."

Sebastian Ogier [PH Sport-Citroen C2 S1600]: [Junior WRC - winner]

"It's tremendously satisfying to have taken our second win from two starts. "The scenario was different to Mexico. This time round, we were forced to do all the chasing, and it was actually quite good fun! It meant we were forced to drive quickly in order to catch the others but that fact that we had to reach the finish was always at the back of our mind. We were helped by the excellent handling of our Citroën C2 Super 1600 and also by the first class work of everyone in the team. Today's result is also positive for the championship, but I also leave Jordan Rally with more experience under my belt. It was very interesting to compete over the unique terrain we saw here and I am sure that will come in useful later in the season."

Barry Clark [Munchi’s Ford WRT]:

"I still can’t believe it yet. To get this opportunity at the last minute was amazing and to be honest it still hasn’t sunk in fully. I had a difficult job to do here and was under strict instructions to finish and we very nearly finished inside the top-ten and just missed out on manufacturer points; that would have really been the icing on the cake. I found the stages quite demanding and not having any pacenotes made it even harder. My continued fitness training meant that I was well prepared for this event even with the last minute notice I was given and now I’ve got a lot of confidence for my next rally with the team in Turkey."
