JWRC: Q&A: Sebastien Ogier.

Wednesday, 14th May 2008

The Sardinian rally will be a test for the JWRC's young coming men, but Sébastien Ogier has the advantage of tackling the third event as leader of the pack after his wins in Mexico and Jordan.

Q:
Sebastien, you had a really crazy rally in Jordan....

Sebastien Ogier:
Yes, it was pretty crazy, but the outcome was perfect. We managed to pull back the four minutes we’d lost and win the second round of the Junior World Championship. In addition, not only did we bag the ten points that go with victory, but also our main rivals didn’t score any!

Q:
Was your concentration shaken when you found yourself four minutes down on the evening of the first leg of the rally?

SO:
No. We knew that the last two legs were going to be very difficult; we also knew that if we didn’t make any major blunders a rostrum finish was well within our grasp. In fact, the race that we drove and the mishaps of some of our rivals helped us come out on top!

Q:
Was the Jordanian Rally more or less difficult than Mexico?

SO:
More because there were a lot of ups-and-downs, a lot of hidden corners and lots of crests. It wasn’t easy to get into the right rhythm straight away.

Q:
What have you been doing since your last Junior World Championship victory?

SO:
Not an awful lot really, as there’s not much time between Jordan and Sardinia. Despite everything we were in Portugal last weekend. We did the same thing as in Argentina and went to carry out some reconnaissance because the event is on the 2009 world championship calendar.

Q:
Point blank, what do you think of your next rendezvous?

SO:
I don’t know this event any better than the other two. After what I’ve been told the roads are fairly slow, full of potholes and very hard on the car. If that’s the case, we’ll have to pay close attention and do everything possible to avoid punctures. Nevertheless, with our 20 out of 20 we can tackle this event in a relaxed frame of mind.
