"There will not be any excuses in Argentina," said Solberg. "There won’t be any sitting back for anyone and I’m going to go for maximum attack from the start. There’s no strategy for this event other than this – we know what our goal is and we’re going to go flat out to get there."
Subaru sporting director, Luis Moya meanwhile is eager for the team to turn things around and believes that they will be right up their with the likes of Kronos
Citroen and
BP Ford. He wants Solberg to go for the win, while he expects
Chris Atkinson to score some good points in the sister car.
"First and foremost we are looking forward to getting back to gravel after two asphalt events," added Moya. "We believe we’ll be competitive against Sebastien [Loeb] and Marcus [Gronholm]. We demonstrated in Mexico that we’re right on the pace and are more than capable of fighting for the lead. Leg one will probably be one of the toughest starts to any rally this year, but we’re going to Argentina looking for the win for Petter and a high finish for Chris car. The next three events will be key to the 2006 championship - and we’ll go to each of them with every intention of winning."
Manufacturer 2.
OMV Peugeot Norway WRT:
[Manfred Stohl, car #7 and
Henning Solberg, car #8].
The OMV Peugeot Norway WRT will be back to full-strength in Argentina, fielding two cars for Manfred Stohl and Henning Solberg, after the latter missed the two asphalt events in Spain and Corsica. As such they will also be eligible to score points towards the Manufacturers’ championship.
Argentina will be a milestone event for Stohl as the Austrian will compete on his 100th event in the WRC. Unsurprisingly then he will be keen to get good result and after finishing on the podium in Mexico - the last gravel event, he could well be in contention for some serious points. Only Marcus Gronholm and Harri Rovanpera, of the current drivers, have more starts to their names.
