"I'm looking forward to Argentina, it's my home rally and I'm getting a much better feeling with the car and I hope in Argentina I go better than in Mexico," he confirmed. "The crowds are going to be incredible and I want to make them feel good with my performance. The car is very strong, it hit a lot by the rocks in Mexico but it kept going, it will be good for the stages. I like very much driving on gravel."
Red Bull Skoda:
[Harri Rovanpera, car #11 and Andreas Aigner, car #12]
The Red Bull Skoda team will
not take part in this event, as they are only contesting the European rounds of the championship. Harri Rovanpera and Andreas Aigner will be out next in Sardinia with the Fabia WRC’s.
Production Car WRC:
12 of the 16 Production Car WRC drivers will contest this event - David Higgins, Fumio Nutahara and the OMV CEE Rally Team the absentees.
Jari-Matti Latvala will also sit out the event after injuring his thumb in Corsica.
Nasser Al-Attiyah currently leads the race for this year’s title, although reigning Production champion, Toshi Arai is only four points behind, in joint second with Nutahara and the Japanese driver has an event in hand. He will be hoping to make the most of that in Argentina.
Other drivers that may be in contention include Marcos Ligato, Sebastian Beltran, Gabriel Pozzo and Mirco Baldacci.
Britain’s Nigel Heath meanwhile will begin his PCWRC campaign this weekend and will take in all the remaining events, as will Takuma Kamada and Aki Teiskonen.
"It's my first visit to Argentina and I really like the place," said Teiskonen. "I can understand why it's so popular with the other drivers. The roads are narrow but fast and the surface is quite sandy so I think it should suit a Finnish driver as they aren't so different to those back home. I have a good feeling with the car after the test so I think we're in good shape to start the rally."
