"For me it’s not so different [being in the third car]," insisted the Spaniard. "I will work exactly how I did before. I have the same motivation than for the start and also the same trust in the Kronos Racing team. We begin the second part of the season with a lead in the manufacturers’ championship thanks to everyone’s work. I am convinced it will continue. Personally, I will try to achieve a good result and if I think I have the right feeling, I might also take some risks unlike before as I always gave priority to scoring points for the Kronos Total
Citroen team."
Subaru will also enter a third car for
Chris Atkinson, as Stephane Sarrazin will take over the #2 car. Atkinson is still quite inexperienced on asphalt but believes he can finish in the top eight and score some points.
“Germany was my first-ever asphalt event in 2005, but this year I’m going back there with a lot more experience. I’ve got another two Tour de Corse and Rally Catalunyas under my belt, plus Monte Carlo and Ireland. Competing in the Nurburg 24 hours helped too – over a 25km lap, you have lots of opportunity to get the right racing line and think about the set-up. Unfortunately, I’ve not had an opportunity to do a tarmac test before Germany this year so instead I’ve been concentrating on fitness, training and relaxing. Our goal for Germany has got to be a good finish, hopefully in the points,” he noted.
Former Ford works driver,
Toni Gardemeister meanwhile will take in his third event of the season, following his debut outing with the Astra-run Citroen Xsara WRC in Greece, where he finished fourth overall.
