"This rally is Germany’s biggest motor sport event," he added. "Not since the world championship rallies in Portugal have I seen so many spectators and fans as in Germany. This is a live example of how exciting rally racing is for spectators - and that’s motivating for the drivers. During this season I’ve already proven that I can score on tarmac - and last year in Germany we were extremely close to
Sebastien Loeb on several special stages. Furthermore, the fight will be even tighter if rain should set in."
OMV meanwhile will also back three other drivers this weekend - namely Stepan Vojtech, who will also use a Peugeot 307, but run by French team, PH Sport, while Aaron Burkart will continue his assault on the JWRC in a
Citroen C2. Slovakian Tibor Cserhalmi will also be competing with OMV branding using a
Suzuki Ignis Super 1600.

Matthew Wilson is expecting the Rallye Deutschland to be ‘very challenging’. Despite that though he can’t wait to get back behind the wheel of his Ford Focus RS WRC05 following the nine-week break.
"It’s one of the most difficult rallies of the year and I’m glad I came out in July with the
BP Ford World Rally Team when they tested as I spent time sat next to Marcus Gronholm,” he noted. “I did the recce for the event last year as well and it’s very challenging with the vineyards and the military roads. There are a lot of junctions and a lot of surface changes and I don’t want to think what happens if you hit a hinkelstein!"
Whatever happens this weekend though, his main hope is that it will be dry: "Germany hopefully won't be too bad if it stays dry, but if it is wet it is fairly treacherous, you have seen some of the accidents people have had there over the years. I think it is quite a dangerous place - you have got to treat it with a bit of caution," he added.
