In the Manufacturers' series, Kronos
Citroen's 1-2 finish in Germany increases their lead over
BP Ford from 15 points to 23.
Red Bull Skoda meanwhile took their best points' haul of the season last Sunday and move up a place to fifth, 2 points ahead of
Stobart VK.
Unsurprisingly as these events are taking place back-to-back there have been few developments in between, although Kronos have confirmed that Dani Sordo will remain in the #2 car in Cyprus.
Staying with Cyprus, the organisers of the event have broken their silence about the calendar for next year, which was confirmed by the World Motor Sport Council at the beginning of last month and which does not include the Mediterranean island.
"Cyprus’s absence from the 2007 line-up was a surprise to all concerned, especially given the consistently high praise which the event receives from fans around the world and the
FIA itself," read a statement on the events official website -
www.cyprusrally.com.
"With no explanation given for the absence of any of the excluded events -Australia and Turkey were also missing from the 2007 calendar - it has become clear that a decision was made to release the calendar in response to media pressure for a 2007 calendar and without full consultation with the rally organisers around the world. In light of the many objections raised about the initial FIA announcement, all WRC rally organisers will meet in Paris on August 23 to discuss the 2007 calendar, although no final decision will be made before a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in October."
Cyprus Rally press officer, Tony Christodoulou meanwhile believes that the Cyprus Rally has been poorly treated, although he is hopeful it will get its place back.
