In total 24 WRC cars are due to compete, with Kronos as usual entering a third car and as looks set to become the norm in the second half of the season, Xavier Pons has been put into the 2005 spec Xsara and will not be eligible to score manufacturers' points.
Pons struggled in Germany and will be out to re-build his confidence: "Honestly, I don't want to think in terms of results for Finland," he said in the build-up. "We cannot forget the big number of local drivers and specialists of the Finnish rally who take the start. The German weekend was been difficult for Carlos [del Barrio – my co-driver] and I and I really want to thank the Kronos team for their support after all the problems we have encountered during the event. The target in Finland is to find the feeling again as well as the confidence which means that usually we are not too far from the fastest times. And if we can finish inside the points, it will be fantastic!"
Other entrants at the wheel of a WRC car include:
Francois Duval (First Skoda Fabia WRC), Jan Kopecky (Czech RT Fabia WRC), Daniel Carlsson (Mitsubishi Lancer WRC), Jussi Valimaki (Mitsubishi Lancer WRC), Kristian Sohlberg (Red Devil Atolye Kazaz
Subaru Impreza WRC), Janne Tuohino (PH Sport
Citroen Xsara WRC),
Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota Corolla WRC), Juho Hanninen (Mitsubishi Lancer WRC), Thomas Schie (Ford Focus RS WRC), Jukka Ketomaki (Skoda Octavia WRC), Mads Ostberg (Subaru Impreza WRC) and
Gigi Galli (Peugeot 307 WRC).
Galli will again run in a Pirelli-backed Peugeot 307, however unlike in France, Argentina and Sardinia, it will be run by BSA not Bozian Racing.
