'Brilliant' seventh for Wilson Jr.

'Brilliant' seventh for Wilson Jr.

'This has definitely been one of my strongest performances', that's was Matthew Wilson's verdict on his outing on the Rally of Turkey last weekend after he finished seventh to take points for the second event in succession.

OK Wilson Jr finally scores a few points, and OK 7th is nice, but how cnan you call that "brilliant"? He is 4 and a half minutes off pace! ALmost 2 minutes off his teammate Henning Solberg who is in 5th place...

How many WRC rallies Matthew Wilson has been entered now?
I don't find his career 'brilliant' nor 'impressive' until now, far from it! I think Jari Matti Latvala has less WRC rallies under his belt than Wilson isn't it?

Until now, I believe no other driver than Malcolm Wilson's son would have kept his seat with such a long streak of mediocre achievements... But I might be wrong. What do you think ?

Who disagreed with the first post Malcolm Wilson and his waste of space son?
Ford should put a talented driver in that car

For your information guys that drive is funded in part by Malcolm Wilson as its his own son, and thanks to Malcolm the Stobart sponsorship grew from Matthew Wilsons personal sponsor to what is now the "Stobart VK Ford World Rally Team" so i think its fair to say that that seat is bought and paid for and is deservidly Matthews seat. if you wanna have a pop at someones lack luster performance look at Citroens B team driver Conrad Rautenbach, no one ever says anything about his exploits, its about time everyone left Matt Wilson alone, hes doing fine. It takes a lot of skill and experience to drive at his pace which is getting better and better all the time.

Right, for starters, I think the "brilliant" is referring to the fact that he has been struggling with the flu throughout the whole 4 days, in temperatures exceeding 35 degree Celsius. You couldn't have coped. Hell, Gigi Galli couldn't cope!

Next, was he last? No. Did he make any stupid mistakes? No. Did he brings valuable points home for Stobart? Yes.

People need to get off his case. I'll happily admit that if his dad wasn't Malcolm he may have struggled to get a drive, but guess what? His dad IS Malcolm, he DOES have a drive and he's doing a damn good job.

Well put Sarah, you know, I like to think our sport is a great sport with tidy people following it, I certainly met some of the nicest people I have ever met when I was driving, but recently its like watching crocodiles feeding at a wilderbeasts watering hole reading these guys snipe remarks about Ford and Matt Wilson, They are dissapointing to say the least, if anything is bad for the sport it all this grizzling

No, I mean flu. Hence why I said 'flu'.

I really don't understand why people feel the need to bash the hell out of the Wilsons. Us Brits have ONE British driver to support (two at a push if by some fluke Barry Clark is competing), but all people seem to want to do is critise Matthew, and throw around every possible reason why he doesn't deserve his drive! And so unfairly. This story is about him winning 2 points, but obviously that means he doesn't deserve his seat. It's stupid.

Dafydd - at least there's two of us that give our support to Matt!
