Ford: Latvala made 'fundamental mistake'.

BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally team director Malcolm Wilson has said that he is 'disappointed' with his #2 driver Jari-Matti Latvala, after the 23-year-old crashed out of the Rally Finland in the second test this morning.

Wilson Sr is completely outside his duties as team manager by bashing Latvala like this. I can only think he is trying to make room in the Ford factory team for his slow son, who has been completely outpaced by the Finn last year in the Stobart outfit.... Go for it Jari-Matti, you're fast and you'll soon be consistent as well.

I think its really sad that Jarri Matti hit that rock in the shade there, The poor kid was driving so sensibly too not over extending himself in any way. Its a bad weekend so far for Ford, especially as Gigi has just rolled on SS16 too, oh well, maybe Mikko can win and Henning will wake up this morning so Ford can at least salvage something.

While I agree that Wilson had no reason to bash Latvala like he did, I don't think he's trying to make room for Matthew. He isn't daft, and he knows Latvala will be world champ one day. I can only imagine he's trying to hammer into Jari the point of how important the pace notes are, but there was absolutely no need for the harshness in his quotes!

Matt Wilson already more than 5 minutes off pace, on Saturday morning... Pathetic! Am I the only one questioning Wilson Jr's presence at WRC level considering his persisting lack of speed?
