Travis Pastrana missed out on scoring more points in the
FIA Production Car World Rally Championship category on the Rally Argentina last weekend when he suffered a double puncture near the end of the event.
The incident occurred halfway through SS21, the second run through the 24.45 kilometre Mina Clavero-Giulio Cesare stage, when both front tyres deflated. Although he managed to change both and eventually got it to the finish in tenth place, he lost around 7 minutes and any hope of adding to the PWRC points he scored in Mexico, when he finished fifth overall.
Despite that though the former multiple motocross champion wasn't too disheartened and he was glad to have got to the end, especially as this was his first time in Argentina and only his second WRC event.
He had also had a number of issues on the previous day too, including losing time with a misfire after going through a water splash too fast, as well as having to stop on SS18 to fix the rear suspension on his Impreza.
All-in-all it was a pretty eventful two-days: “This was a real learning experience again just like at WRC Mexico,” he reflected. “We drove at our own pace and tried to stay out of trouble but here in Argentina trouble finds you!
“But we really don't care where we finish, so long as we are get valuable experience while increasing our speed. It was great experience and practice for our full attack on the P-WRC next year.”
Pastrana will now re-focus his efforts on defending his title in the Rally America National Championship, before ending the year with one more outing in the PWRC, when he takes in the Wales Rally GB.
