It was a really difficult rally so I am very happy to be on the podium. I've not been very lucky on these stages over the last two years, so I'm pleased that a bit of good luck has finally come my way, he reflected. I hope to continue my progress in Finland, particularly as my two key rivals won't be there.
Further down the order, Aaron Burkart took fourth, also in a
Citroen C2 S1600 and he too was very happy': I always knew that it would be possible to come away from here with a good result and here we are, he added. It's almost better than I hoped for, so that's great news for me. Now I'm just going to concentrate on Finland, where staying on the road is not going to be at all easy.
After Burkart, Jaan Molder ended up fifth, 30 seconds or so further back in his Swift, while Jozef Beres and Bryan Bouffier were sixth and seventh respectively, the latter making his JRC debut this weekend in the Citroen C2-R2.
I had a huge amount of fun with this car from the very start, said the Frenchman. I wasn't really paying much attention to my times at the start of the rally, but as it turns out we've had a very good result.
"It's satisfying to be in front of Shaun [Gallagher the next best C2 runner] at the finish, and I hope I have the opportunity to do it again on some more rallies in the Junior Championship.
Reigning Junior champion, Patrik Sandell took the final point in eighth, finishing under the SupeRally after problems in SS16, while Vilius Rozukas and Shaun Gallagher rounded out the top ten.
