Britain's Barry Clark will be looking to make it four wins in succession in the Fiesta SportingTrophy International series [FSTi] next week as he lines up for round four in Finland.
Over the opening three rounds, Clark has sailed through each event, comfortably picking up maximum points. Furthermore with his key rivals, Evgeniy Vertunov and Simon Hughes - second and third respectively in the FSTi championship – both sitting the Finnish round out, it is the perfect opportunity for him to capitalise and extend his current nine point lead in the championship.
“Finland will hopefully be another good event for us after such a great start to the year,” said the Scot. “It's nice to have a comfortable lead in the championship, but one round can still be dropped so we have to stay on top of our game to keep the pressure on the other guys.”
For the 2-litre GpN Ford Fiesta ST's though Finland will be a serious test and with 27 world rally cars entered in the event, road conditions down the order probably won't be great.
“This will be a tough event on the Fiesta, as it has been in the past, but we won here last year [in the FSTi] so I'm just going to try and stay out of trouble and see if we can take victory again,” added the Stobart-backed man.
“With the big break in the championship I have been keeping up my fitness levels with the M-Sport trainer and am probably feeling the best I ever have coming into this event. The plan is to drive in a controlled manner and finish the rally without any problems. I'm really looking forward to getting back in the car and starting the event.”
For the record, Clark will be one of only four drivers' in the Fiesta SportingTrophy International series on the Rally Finland.
