PWRC leader crashes out.

Comment on this Story
Britain's Mark Higgins has crashed out of the Rally Ireland after going off the road in the final stage of the day.

Higgins, who came into the event with an outside chance of taking the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship title and who had led practically throughout, rolled on the second run through the 13.46 kilometre Tempo 2 stage, SS16.

Although Mark and co-driver Scott Martin escaped unhurt, they will not be able to re-start under the SupeRally on Sunday as their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo suffered extensive damage.

Higgins, who was more than 30 seconds up on Armindo Araujo post SS15, needed to win this weekend to keep his PWRC title hopes alive.
