The organisers of the Wales Rally GB have confirmed that two spectators suffered minor injuries this morning when Simon Harraway went off the road in SS1.

The incident occurred at point 7 in the 17.41 kilometre Port Talbot test, when the former karting champion, who began rallying back in March, crashed out in his #91 Group N Subaru Impreza.

“Two spectators sustained minor injuries,” confirmed a statement from the Rally GB.

“Both are conscious and have been taken to Morriston Hospital, Swansea by County Ambulance.

“Medical services were at the scene of the incident within three minutes.”

SS1 was subsequently stopped and the remaining competitors were re-routed directly to SS2, the 25.08 kilometre-run through Resolfen.
