Britain's Stuart Jones has crashed out of the Wales Rally GB in the penultimate stage of the day.

The Welshman had been running sixth in his MSD-developed MG Super 2000 Sport and on course to score his first points ever in the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship category.

However, it all went wrong in the second run through the 18.37 kilometre Halfway stage, when he went off the road near point 17.

A statement from the organisers of the Wales Rally GB, read:

"Co-driver [Andy Bull] is reported to have a broken clavicle bone [the long curved bone that connects the upper part of the breastbone with the shoulder blade].

"Both members of the crew are conscious. The co-driver has been taken to Merthyr Tydfil, by Welsh Ambulance.

"Medical services were at the scene of the incident within four minutes. No spectators were involved in the incident."

SS12 was subsequently stopped and the remaining competitors were all re-routed directly to SS13 - the super special at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium, which is the final test of the day.
