The late
Colin McRae has been remembered at the annual Race of Champions event in London, with Wembley Stadium falling silent to listen to a lone 'piper playing in honour of the fallen WRC star.
McRae, a long-time competitor in the end of season event who had been named in the Scottish line-up again for the first Race of Champions on British soil, died in a helicopter accident close to his family home in Scotland back in September in an incident that rocked the motorsport community to its core.
Once the Nations Cup was complete, 15 of the 16 competing drivers line-up on the start-finish straight before a short video of McRae was shown in the big screen.
The stadium then fell silent before a lone 'piper emerged from the tunnel as Wembley resounded to the haunting sound of the instrument for which Scotland is famous.
"It is an honour for us to have the McRae family here tonight and we want to thank them for coming," event organiser Fredrik Johnsson said. "Colin was one of the drivers who competed most in the Race of Champions and he was always spectacular and competitive."
McRae's former team-mate in the Team Scotland line-up also paid tribute to the 1995 WRC champion.
"Colin was a man who lived his life at a million miles and hour," the
Red Bull Racing man said. "He would be proud to see the respect that has been shown.
"He was a unique individual and had the respect of all competitiors here. His favourite saying was that you are here for a good time and not a long time, so we will honour him by driving flat out and by driving sideways."

Subaru Impreza used by Colin into the stadium complete with Scottish flag, where it will remain in the middle of the circuit for the Race of Champions.
