The organisers of the Rally Ireland have announced that Gordon Noble has been appointed as clerk of the course for the 2009 event.
Noble, who was the assistant clerk of the course last year and who still competes as a co-driver, will take over from Tom Walsh.
"This is a great honour in particular as Ireland has been selected to launch the '09 World Championship, it is a big challenge," Noble told the events official website.
"I learned a lot last year and I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in."
Motorsport Ireland president, John Naylor, is convinced that Noble will do a good job: "In the short time that this event has been running, Gordon has given great service to it and we have no doubts in his ability to take the reins and run another successful event," he added.
The team to assist Gordon meanwhile is currently being put in place, although Fred Gallagher will remain on as deputy clerk of the course for the cross-border event which attracted almost 250,000 spectators over four days when it ran in November at the end of last year.
