The organisers of the Rally Japan have confirmed that the Sapporo Dome will host the service park this season, now that the event has moved from the Tokachi area to central Hokkaido.

The Sapporo Dome will also serve as the main headquarters for the fourteenth round in the 2008 FIA World Rally Championship, which runs from October 31 to November 2, in addition to staging the shakedown, ceremonial start and the super special stage, which will be ran on all three-days.

"The Sapporo Dome has a seating capacity of 42,831," read a statement to the media. "It was opened in 2001 and it is the home stadium of the Consadole soccer team and the Nipponham Fighters baseball team.

"Being an all-weather facility the Sapporo Dome makes it possible for the spectators to enjoy the Rally Japan in any weather."

The organisers also announced the eight cities, which will become the hosts of the event, with Sapporo joined by the likes of Chitose, Yubari, Iwamizawa, Mikasa and Bibai.

"The key word for the 2008 edition of Rally Japan is 'MORE'," added the organisers.

"More progress with the larger host city; More compact route for the rally; More satisfaction for the competitors and spectators; More entertainment with using the world-renowned Sapporo Dome."
