Peugeot Belgium driver Freddy Loix has been buoyed by a pre-Portugal test in the south of France, following his disappointment on the Istanbul Rally when he lost nearly four minutes with a puncture on the opening morning.

Loix's test in Plan de la Tour concentrated particularly on improving the suspension and differential settings on his Peugeot 207 S2000.

The Belgian driver felt that the settings he used in Turkey, the opening round of the 2008 Intercontinental Rally Challenge, were too soft to work well in the twisty sections. Nonetheless though, he managed to bounce back from his time loss on the opening morning to claim eighth place overall and the final drivers' point.

"My objective, more than anything else, remains the championship," Loix vowed.

"However, that is very long way from being won, as I'm facing some really tough rivals this year."
