Manfred Stohl will take in the Rally Portugal next month, the second round in the 2008 Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
Stohl had been active at the pinnacle of the sport in a World Rally Car in recent years and competed with the OMV Kronos
Citroen WRT last season.
However when OMV quit the sport he lost his major backer and while he was hoping to take in the
FIA Production Car World Rally Championship, it now appears his focus has shifted elsewhere.
Indeed the Austrian is included on an impressive provisional entry list for the event in the Algarve and he will drive in a Peugeot 207 S2000.
It is not known if this will just be a one-off or if he plans to take in additional rounds of the IRC later on this season.
Manfred joins a number of WRC 'refugees' on the event, including
Francois Duval, who will pilot an Abarth Grande Punto S2000, as well as the likes of Jan Kopecky, Brice Tirabassi, Dani Sola, Simon Jean-Joseph, Freddy Loix and Didier Auriol.
Production WRC regulars Andreas Aigner, Bernardo Sousa, Juho Hanninen and Armindo Araujo have also filed entries and will all compete in Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IXs.
