Citroen number one driver Sebastien Loeb has retired from day two of the inaugural WRC event in Jordan following an accident on the road section after SS11.

Loeb, who had grabbed the lead this morning and who was more than 30 seconds up on his team-mate, after setting three successive quickest times in SS9, SS10 and SS11, was involved in a head-on crash with Conrad Rautenbach's similar C4 WRC car.

According to early reports the Frenchman was setting off for SS12, while Conrad was heading into Shuna 1 - SS11, when the incident occurred on a blind corner. Although nobody was injured, both were unable to continue.

Daniel Sordo now resumes the lead, albeit only narrowly in front of the two BP Ford Abu Dhabi WRT cars of Jari-Matti Latvala and Mikko Hirvonen.
