Renault man in control?

"I want to make second place and get some more big points in the Junior championship. Tomorrow will be a tough day, but I'm looking forward to it."

Further down the order Shaun Gallagher brought his C2 S1600 to the end of the leg in fourth, although he is more than 2.5 minutes off Molder. His main complaint was with the gearbox.

"During the first loop of stages I had a few gearbox problems. I don't know exactly where these problems came from, but we will try and investigate further during the service halt. All in all though, everything went well today," he noted.

"The stages were once more very difficult, and it was extremely hot inside the car. We're now going to try to hold onto a decent place in the Junior classification, given that tomorrow is not going to be at all easy. It's hard to attack, so we will need to be careful to hold onto our position."

Gilles Schammel was next up in fifth, followed by fellow Renault Clio runners, Kevin Abbring and Alessandro Bettega, the latter having stopped in the final stage.

Stefano Albertini rounded out the points scorers, with Simone Bertolotti and Florian Niegel ninth and tenth respectively.
