"It was a narrow road and there were lots of places where we couldn't see much of the road. There wasn't room for two cars. It's an unfortunate blow.
"I am obviously very disappointed for everyone in the team because our day had started well - we had moved into the lead and our C4 was going so well. It's also a tough blow for the Drivers' championship but this is only the fifth round of the season. A great deal can still happen."
Citroen boss Olivier Quesnel meanwhile likened the whole Jordan Rally to something of a roller-coaster ride for his squad.
Indeed while he was happy to see Dani Sordo go so well and finish second, Loeb's accident did leave a sour taste.
Like Seb though, he looked on the bright side and he will now want to get revenge in Sardinia next month.
"What a rally! I don't think we will forget the inaugural Jordan Rally in a hurry; a real emotional roller-coaster. Dani and Marc [Marti] did all they could to win today and only narrowly failed. We can leave here with our heads held high.
"True, our rivals go away with more points than us but the competitiveness of the C4 WRC and the superior performance of
Sebastien Loeb are positive pointers for the rest of the season," he concluded.
