Two from two for new star.

Citroen's Sebastien Ogier came through to take his second consecutive win in the FIA Junior World Rally Championship on the Jordan Rally last weekend.

The Frenchman took the lead on the very first stage on Sunday morning, after 2006 JWRC champion Patrik Sandell crashed out in his Renault Clio S1600 in SS17, squandering a two minute lead.

Ogier then proceeded to set the pace in five of the days six stages, taking his total number of stage wins to 16 from 22 and he eventually took the laurels by a massive margin, just over five minutes up on his closest challenger.

He wouldn't have needed Sandell to have problems too, if he hadn't been slowed by a puncture on day one, something that cost him considerable time - around 4 minutes 50 seconds.

"It's tremendously satisfying to have taken our second win from two starts," said the elated FFSA-backed youngster. "The scenario was different to Mexico. This time round, we were forced to do all the chasing, and it was actually quite good fun!

"It meant we were forced to drive quickly in order to catch the others but that fact that we had to reach the finish was always at the back of our mind. We were helped by the excellent handling of our Citroën C2 Super 1600 and also by the first class work of everyone in the team.

"Today's result is also positive for the championship, but I also leave Jordan Rally with more experience under my belt. It was very interesting to compete over the unique terrain we saw here and I am sure that will come in useful later in the season."

Shaun Gallagher meanwhile took the runners-up spot, also in a Citroen C2 S1600, to give the French manufacturer a one-two finish in the Junior class.

The Irishman, who is not at all used to conditions in the Middle East, had gearbox problems through much of the event, but he made it to the end and was delighted to get his first JWRC podium finish.
