"Last year there were many retirements in Sardinia as it is a very tough rally. So far Pirelli have done a good job keeping the punctures low which will be a factor in Sardinia with so many rocks next to the roads.

"I am looking forward to the event and hopefully we can get some more good points for the Munchi's team and myself."

Federico Villagra meanwhile will again drive the #9 Munchi's car - as he is doing on all of the events the team will take in this year - and with points finishes on all three rounds he has done so far this season, 'Coyote' will be eager to maintain that run.

He will also be 'match fit' and comes straight to the Rally d'Italia having contested the third round of the Argentine Rally Championship - Rally de San Luis, last weekend.

"Sardinia is a special place for me because it is where I first drove for the Munchi's Ford team and it was the first time I competed in the Focus WRC," he added. "Last year was a big learning experience but we still managed to get around and finish in eleventh but this year I will be hoping to score some points.

"It has been a great start to the year scoring points on all three rounds so the plan is to keep this going as long as we can. Sardinia is a tough event and very technical in places so we are going to have to be sharp and make good notes. The goal for this event is to finish in the top-eight and hopefully score some more good points for the Munchi's team."

Suzuki not giving up.

The Suzuki World Rally Team has confirmed that it will be aiming for improved reliability in Sardinia in order to fulfil its objective of bringing both cars home in the points.

The Paris-based operation endured a real nightmare event in Jordan two weeks ago with Toni Gardemeister and Per-Gunnar Andersson both failing to finish the inaugural round in the Middle East.

Despite that though, Suzuki World Rally team boss Nobuhiro 'Monster' Tajima believes that they will get it right.

"We still have a long way to go and a lot to improve. However, by staying focussed on our common goals and making progress step by step, I am confident that we will eventually achieve our objectives," he vowed.
