The organisers of the Rallye Automobile Monte Carlo, the oldest and most prestigious event in the history of the sport, have confirmed that the event will again run over four days in 2009.

The 77th edition, which will run as part of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, after being dropped by the World Rally Championship as a result of the FIA's new rotation system, will get underway on Wednesday January 21 and finish on Saturday January 24.

There had been speculation that the event could include up to six days of competition, but it now seems it will be the same as in '08, albeit with the round beginning and ending a day earlier.
