Pirelli boss Mario Isola meanwhile conceded that while the second leg was tough, tyre problems weren't the only issues. He also pointed out that while a number of drivers' did have punctures, it was actually less of a problem than in previous years when mousse was standard.
"For a long time these Greek stages have been a tyre's worst enemy. This situation has not changed since we went to a single tyre formula," he continued.
"We knew that the second leg of 2008 Rally Acropolis was going to be exhausting. The punctures and cuts on the Scorpion tyres occurred during the day are a confirmation of how tough this race is.
"The Greek round of the WRC is one of the most severe as confirmed also by the several mechanical problems the cars had.
"We will examine every single tyre used in this rally in order to get as much information possible that will be useful in case of refinements. Furthermore, although people adopted different strategies last season, it's important to realise that we picked up fewer punctures this time than we did in the days when drivers were allowed to use anti-deflation mousse."
