Ford privateer Andreas Mikkelsen will be in a buoyant mood when the Rally of Turkey gets underway this week, as he arrives for the event fresh from having taken the win on the latest round in the Norwegian Rally Championship.

Mikkelsen led the Aurskog-Høland Rally, just 60 kilometres north-east of Oslo, from the off and eventually took the spoils by 2 minutes 26 seconds, with Group N driver Sveinung Bieltvedt second.

Mads Ostberg had to settle for third place, having lost time with a puncture just a few hundred metres from the start of the first stage. Ostberg had to stop and change the tyres on his Subaru Impreza WRC, costing him more than 3 minutes.

He eventually finished 2 minutes 36 seconds off Mikkelsen, while Morten Ostberg, Bernt Kollevold and Christian August rounded out the top six.

Mikkelsen now leads the Norwegian Rally Championship with 126 points, while Mads Ostberg is five points behind. The NRC now continues in the autumn, with the Rally Larvik on September 6.
