2007 Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally champion Guy Wilks will have to adjust to a new co-driver this week when he makes his debut in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge on the Rally Russia.
Wilks, who is supplementing his programme in the BRC this year by taking in five international events in a JAS Motorsport-run Honda Civic Type R R3 rally car, will be joined by David Moynihan as regular co-pilot Phil Pugh is not available. It is believed the change is just a one-off.
This will be only Wilks second appearance in the Honda following his first outing in it in Australia back in April, but despite that he is still hoping for a good result.
"I don't really know what to expect for this rally, but I'm not worried about it," he said. "From our previous experience with the car in Australia we know the Honda is quick, and I think we can aim for a good result.
"I've got a new co-driver for the first time since 2002, so that will probably need a bit of time to get used to, but it's just a question of taking everything as it comes.
"Hopefully we'll be able to get out on some other IRC events in the future. I'd like to think we've already made some useful developments to the car while we've been testing."
Wilks is about to enter a very busy period as after the event in Russia he will head back to the UK to do the Rally Isle of Man, the third round in the BRC, before then departing for Finland for his first run in this year's
FIA World Rally Championship.
