Citroen boss Olivier Quesnel has branded the team's third consecutive one-two finish on the Rally RACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada at the weekend an 'immensely satisfying' result.

The French manufacturer utterly dominated the twelfth round in the World Rally Championship with Sebastien Loeb leading from start-to-finish to extend his lead in the drivers' championship to 12-points. Dani Sordo was also very competitive en-route to second in the sister Citroen C4 WRC car.

The result gives Citroen a 27-point advantage over Ford in the manufacturers' standings - and with only a maximum 54 points still possible to both teams, it is looking increasingly good for them.

Speaking at the finish, Quesnel noted that he would now like to see them repeat the result on the Rallye de France-Tour de Corse this week - and if things fall favourably and Ford has a particularly bad event, they could conceivably clinch both crowns.

"This is our third consecutive one-two of 2008, which is immensely satisfying. What I particularly appreciate about this result is the way it was obtained," Quesnel reflected. "Our two C4s were never dislodged from the top of the leaderboard and were remarkably reliable throughout, while the mechanics did an impeccable job tending to them over the three days.

"Sébastien and Daniel [Elena] put in a perfect run, pulling clear initially and then controlling from in front. It was a polished performance, too, from Dani and Marc [Marti] who superbly defended second spot. They were in complete control in relation to their rivals in third place.

"This is also a very positive outcome for Citroën in both championships, and exactly the sort of weekend I would love to see repeated in a week's time when we move on to Corsica."
