Matthew Wilson put in a solid performance to finish ninth and claim the final manufacturer points' for the
Stobart Ford team on the Rally RACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada at the weekend.
Wilson, who ran in the top-ten for the majority of the event, battled with understeer on the opening two days, but other than that, and slightly fading brakes on the first loop on Friday, he had a trouble-free run.
In the end he posted eleven top-ten times in his Focus RS WRC07, including three ninth quickest efforts on Sunday's final leg.
"It's always great for me to score more points for the team and especially here in Spain as most of the top drivers have had tests before the rally," said Wilson.
"It was also important to not make any mistakes with Corsica so close, as this takes some pressure off the Stobart team mechanics and we haven't put a wheel wrong here.
"We tried a few different settings, which took some time, but got a good diff setting and feeling with the car on Saturday.
"We tried the soft Pirelli tyres this morning and they felt positive in the middle stage, and we were able to leave the braking slightly later, so that information is very useful heading to Corsica."
Pressed on what he can achieve on the Rallye de France-Tour de Corse, where he will again be nominated to score for the team, along with 'returnee'
Jari-Matti Latvala, the 21-year-old added that he will once more be gunning for a points finish.
"We had a few stages in Spain where I was under one second per kilometre off the leader so that's a very positive feeling to take to Corsica," he continued. "I like the stages in Corsica as the grip is good on the abrasive roads and with a more relaxed recce period than other events, it allows me more time to look over the video and prepare for the rally.
