Aaron Burkart will get to compete in one round of the World Rally Championship in a Citroen C4 World Rally car next season, following his success in this year's Junior series.

Burkart, who was the only runner still in with a chance of depriving Sebastien Ogier of the Junior title last weekend, eventually finished fifth overall on the Rallye de France-Tour de Corse.

That result meant he ended the year second in the J-WRC standings with 34 points – 8 points less than Ogier and 2 points more than Martin Prokop, who was third - and under the rules of Citroen's C2 Junior Experience, the German now wins himself a drive in a C4 WRC.

"I am very happy with this result," said Burkart, who was on the podium three times this season in the J-WRC, finishing second in Germany and third in Sardinia and France.

"We were quick and very consistent throughout the season, we made no mistakes, and this allowed us to score points on every round. The performance from our C2 Super 1600 has resulted in an excellent result in the Junior Championship standings.

"This has been a long three days, so now we are going to enjoy the achievement and celebrate!"

For the record, Sebastien Ogier was not eligible for the Citroen C2 Junior Experience.
