Victories rarely get more emphatic than this, that was the way
Citroen boss Olivier Quesnel described
Sebastien Loeb's triumph on the Rallye de France-Tour de Corse.
Loeb, who could now clinch his fifth drivers' title in Japan in two weeks time, led from the off and in the end the Frenchman easily took the maximum points haul, winning 14 of the 16 stages and eventually triumphing by over 3 minutes.
While Loeb did well though, the weekend wasn't all positive for the French manufacturer, as number two driver Dani Sordo crashed out on the opening day and failed to finish.
That allowed Ford to close slightly in the manufacturers' championship, although with a 23-point cushion, Citroen still looks strong.
"Our cars have always gone well in Corsica and, this year, we were again able to dominate from start to finish thanks to the excellent work of everyone in the team," said Quesnel. "Victories rarely get more emphatic than this. There was little suspense, but it was still a very stressful three days because anything can always happen!
"But Seb and [co-driver] Daniel [Elena] put in a perfect run, scoring 14 fifteen fastest stage times from 16! What a performance! Today's result takes them further clear at the top of the Drivers' standings and Citroen hasn't dropped many points in the Manufacturers' championship either."
Quesnel meanwhile also applaud the performances of
Urmo Aava, who was seventh in his privately entered C4 WRC - and Sebastien Ogier, who clinched the 2008 J-WRC crown.
Indeed the C2 S1600 has been the car to beat this year in the Junior series and while Ogier won, Citroen also finished 2-3-4 in the J-WRC standings too, thanks respectively to the efforts of Aaron Burkart, Martin Prokop and Shaun Gallagher.
"It's an exceptional result for Citroen [in the J-WRC] and all our customers," Quesnel continued. "We are very pleased to have placed the four Citroen C2 Super 1600s engaged in the series in the top four places this year.
