Reigning Superbike World Champion Troy Corser talks about his podium finish and jump start penalty…..
Hi guys,
What a mixed up weekend, a podium finish and then a ride through penalty – you don’t get much more extreme than that.
Everything had been going well, I was struggling a little bit on the first few laps as I had a stiff shoulder from the crash at Assen, but after being on the bike for a couple of days it loosened up. I brought my personal trainer over to help me get loosened up before I got on the bike. We found a good setting with the engine, the clutch and also with the tyre, so I felt quiet confident. Unfortunately in Superpole I made a small mistake into the first corner I went a little bit fast and I just lost too much time in the first split so other than that it was all good.
It is a little bit difficult to pass at Lausitz, because the corners are so fast and very one line. There are a few places where you can get good drive coming out of the corner where you can then make a pass on the brakes, probably to two straights on the inside of the circuit. Other than that it is quite difficult because the lap times are quite close and I think everybody was on the same tyres for the race.
Tyres have been our biggest problem, the tyre that we found when we came to test here definitely has better grip but won’t do race distance, it would last for about twelve laps and then it was completely finished. We found that out pretty quickly on the first day so we focused on running the harder tyre and trying to get as much grip out of that, with lap times but still getting the endurance.
