Toseland takes victory in Lausitz race two.

Sunday, 10th September 2006

James Toseland took a lights to flag victory on his Winston Ten Kate Honda at round ten of the Corona Extra Superbike World Championship at the Eurospeedway in Germany.

James Toseland took a lights to flag victory on his Winston Ten Kate Honda at round ten of the Corona Extra Superbike World Championship at the Eurospeedway in Germany.

After a difficult race one the Brit was out to set the record straight and did just that by holding off Noriyuki Haga and Troy Bayliss.

Haga on the Yamaha Italia took second place but pushed Toseland hard all the way to the line. Third went to Championship leader Bayliss on the Xerox Ducati, he did run in second for a large part of the race but Haga had other ideas.

Bayliss decided to be a little more careful in race two saying, “I was more cautious this time, we ran a different front but the same rear and I struggled with rear grip. I wanted a win but had to settle for third. I watched these two guys as you don't know what can happen in racing, but they both stayed up. Imola should be a good weekend. If I pick up the title there the Italians will be very happy and I will be a bit more relaxed. We now have two weekends off; if I had wrapped it up today I could have had two weekends partying! Instead I'll train and be firing for Imola.”

The two races have taken their toil on Haga and he admitted feeling tired but pleased with results. “I'm a little tired. It is not so bad a result and I enjoy racing with James and Troy. I'm happy with results, yesterday I have wrist problem and I go to clinic. It was no problem for the two races, so thank you to all staff. Tonight maybe the pain will start,” said Haga.

Race winner Toseland was over the moon with his result, “We made a decision to go with a different tyre in race one and it was the wrong decision. So apologies to everyone for race one. It is good to be racing at the front, I made some hard moves on Nori but he can take it. Good to be back at the front and take a win, not had one since Qatar,” he said.
