Martin's landed: End of an era.

Wednesday, 27th September 2006

Foggy Petronas Racing rider Steve Martin takes us through Assen and Lausitz, plus describes how he feels about his last Imola event with Petronas in his exclusive Crash.net column.

Both sad events and not much I can do about either of them. I just want to take this time to say thanks to Carl, the team and Petronas for a special time in history which I am happy to have been a part of. I have had so many good experiences that they out weigh the difficulties that we have had along way.

Imola is a classic track so to take it off the calendar is like taking a piece of World Superbike excitement away. It is an absolute awesome spectacle, equal to Brands Hatch in my opinion.

The good parts about the future are that I am confirmed to run again next year in WSBK on a Honda blade with the Italian DFX squad. After looking at the specs of the Blade and seeing it on track with current rider Fabrizio I am quietly confident of running up the pointy end again next year. I guess time will tell.
