Hi Guys,

Another tough weekend, I just have to take it on the chin and move onto the final round. This year started alright, but recently I have been asking myself what’s been going on. It seems that every round has thrown up problems- and usually those problems have been on race day - not qualifying or practice. Most of my recent problems have been due to the tyres and I feel that they have not performed consistently.

Before Imola, I really felt I had a chance of ending the season with third place, but now that idea has gone. My position in the championship is irrelevant now, so I might as well go all-out in Magny Cours and try and shoot for the top - after all I’ve nothing to lose

Superpole at Imola went quite well, the lap I put in was the fastest lap that I’d done all weekend. I made a few small mistakes just trying too hard, I saw Bayliss had done a 1min 48secs and I felt confident I could do one, so I pushed to try to do one and made a little mistake. I was happy enough with the front row and we had a good set up for the race.

I think my little mistake looked worse on TV than it felt on the bike as a few people have commented on it. I was out over the strips and in the grass almost in a few places, just trying too hard. I came out of Acque Minerali and ran wide; the bike was spinning up nicely!

There has been a bit of a change to the second at Imola, they have lengthened the middle section and for me it is actually worse, a little bit more dangerous than what it was before. If you don’t make the corner you run on straight across the track and come back onto the track right in the path of the other riders coming out of the corner.
