Corser’s corner: Towers and Princesses.

Wednesday, 4th October 2006

In his latest Crash.net column, former Superbike World Champion Troy Corser talks about his difficult weekend at Imola, the Eiffel Tower and meeting Princess Anne...

Anyway race one ended with a technical, I hooked a false neutral and ran on into the gravel, I rejoined but it kept on happening and I didn’t want to risk crashing out so I retired. Race two looked like it was going to be better, I got off the line with Bayliss but after about five laps my rear tyre started to go off and that was that really.

Apart from racing I’ve been busy with some PR bits and pieces, after the two day test in Magny Cours, Eurosport organised a ride out on the race bikes through the streets of Paris to the bottom of the Eiffel Tower, we then got to go up it to do a press conference. It was great as I’d never been up the tower at all so while I was there I managed to go right to the top. It was very nice but now I know I have to take my wife Samantha back there as she is not happy that I went up there by myself. It was nice something different and I think it created a lot of interest for the Magny Cours race.

Then we went and saw Princess Anne and that was fantastic, it was nice to go and meet the people who are involved in Riders for Health and who also support the charity. She is a true supporter of the charity which is really good to see. Riders for Health have come so far from eight years ago when I started supporting it. It was their tenth anniversary so I think they have come a long, long way and to have someone like her supporting it has also helped a lot and it is making a difference.
