Following his horrific smash at Laguna Seca which left him with a severely damaged left hand, Alex Hofmann is taking time out to get better and to evaluate his options for the future.
When asked why he was at Brands his simple reply was, “The good weather and the fact that I was way too bored at home. I've never been to this event which I've always wanted to go, so I took the chance.”
Like most riders he was impressed with the track layout saying, “It looks fun, I've not ridden this track and I'll not have a chance this weekend but it looks very much like fun.”
His hand injury is improving, “It is now two weeks after Laguna and I can slowly start movement and everything is healing very fast. I am a very fast healer, everybody tells me that. I'll be back but first I want to really take care of my hand 100% before I get back on a bike,” he said.
Hofmann is hoping to make his racing come back at Misano rather than push things to be fit for Brno saying, “Actually I think it is going to be Misano. I could probably force Brno but what is the point if you are not 100%. I'll take my time.”
He did finally admit that he was checking out his options in the World Superbike paddock, “Of course you always have to check out plan B or your options so I am having some talks here this weekend. You never know what the future is bringing. Obviously if I come over here I'd love to have the chance to compete and fight for podiums, so you can imagine who I am talking to,” he finished coyly.
