Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha British Superbike rider, Tommy Hill had a wild card ride at
Brands Hatch World Supersport filling in for the injured Kevin Curtain in the SSP Yamaha team.
He did a superb job and finished in fifth place against World level riders, he had hoped that this ride would have secured him the seat with the team for 2008 as his ambitions are to race on the world stage.
However that was not the case as he told
Crash.net Radio at the EuroSpeedway in Germany. I had a bit of shock news during the week and that was from Team Yamaha explaining that they have signed Fabien Foret, said the disappointed Hill, It came as a bit of a shock to me. We hadn't really sat down and spoke about the deal, what plans we both had and where we were going to go together. We were just about to do that when they phoned me up to say they had signed Foret.
Hill wasn't the only rider surprised by the decision as he went on to say, It was also a shock to Sebastien Charpentier as well as he was in the line to take the second ride.
Despite his disappointment he is back with the team for round eleven of the Championship in Germany, I get to have another little go on the bike and I'm glad the team gave us a phone call and wanted me to ride it. With the 2008 ride out the window I'm just getting on with this weekend. We are not doing too bad, it is my first time at the Lausitz ring. I was running seventh in qualifying; I was fifth until the last few minutes. I made a slight cock-up with the times coming in and didn't get many laps on the soft tyre.
