Q&A: Fonsi Nieto - EXCLUSIVE.

Sunday, 9th September 2007

Fonsi Nieto secured his first career pole position in World Superbikes at the EuroSpeedway in Germany for round eleven of the Championship. The weather was a lottery but Nieto got on track just before the rain really kicked in and used the dry conditions to his advantage as he explained to Crash.net Radio...

Crash.net:
How does it feel to be on pole position?

Fonsi Nieto:
Is nice to be again in pole position, it is my first in Superbike but is the twelfth in my career, I make pole position eleven times in 250. Is nice for me to make pole position again, is not one of my best pole positions but it is quite good for me. I prefer to make with same conditions for everyone but I was lucky, I push hard and make risk.

Crash.net:
How difficult were the conditions on track?

FN:
Really difficult because in rain I did not make so many laps because I had a problem with number one and number two bike. For sure it is going to be a very hard race because the track is slippery so much and for sure if it is rain conditions we will see many, many crashes.

Crash.net:
Is the EuroSpeedway a good circuit for you?

FN:
No! I make my first pole but for sure it is not one of my favourites. It is the same for everyone, you have to think about the races, about how to ride the bike, and you have to forget if you like the track or don't like the track.

Crash.net:
Have you enjoyed this year with Kawasaki?

FN:
No so much, it has been a difficult year for us we have had many, many problems, more than we think before the first race. This is same for me and my team-mate Regis Laconi, but we have to still push. We have three more races and I hope to finish in good position in the end of the season.

Crash.net:
Do you know what your plans are for next year?

FN:
After this weekend I start to think for next year. I don't know, at the moment 70 percent I stay in this team, they have helped me so much and give me confidence. So if they like it is possible to continue next year.
