Martin's landed: Tough Qatar opener.

Foggy Petronas rider Steve Martin had a tough time at the first World Superbike round at Qatar at the end of February trying to utilise the FP1 at a circuit it was not expected to perform at. Despite this he picked up the teams first points of the season, here is how he did it...

The good news is that we are waiting for some new spec engines to come on line. We will get to test all of these parts at the Valencia on the 12th and 13th of March as long as it’s not too wintry of course. I don’t need to have two engines the same to go well and if the Petronas engine development team give me something better I will go better. So if they have got five different specs to try I want them to go nuts and use me so that we try everything. I also need to try a lower centre of gravity and I haven’t really had the chance to make changes to the suspension internals.

After the test in Valencia I fly straight back to Phillip Island where we have another two day test so I have got plenty to keep me busy, and report on, in March.
